Flexible graphite
consists of 99.9% pure carbon in which the crystalline structure has
been considerably expanded through very high temperature heat treatment.
The expanded crystals are formed into foil by a formed into thicker
sheets, multi-stage calendering process. The thin flexible graphite
foil can then be laminated into spiral wound gaskets. |

Max Seal Flexible
Graphite sheet can also be supplied with metal reinforcements. These reinforcements increase
the tensile strength of the material and dramatically improve the
handling and cutting characteristics. For larger gaskets (approx.
8" inside diameter and above). The use of metal insert material is recommended due to the greater
hoop strength and ease of cutting and handling. |
